After the fever subsided. the babes continue their journey to flu-land and started coughing and sneezing.
And thats not all... En was prescribed a cough syrup which is NOT supposed to be given to children under two. Hubby found that out from another doctor and we stopped his dose immediately, and watched him for the WHOLE NIGHT for any difficulty in breathing.
Thankfully other than being super drowsy, he sort of slept through the night, only coughing harder in the morning.
Lesson: MUST remember to ALWAYS check what the doctor prescribe!
Also brought Qi to see a paedi for her appetite problems.
She drinks her milk, but is not so keen on eating semi solids for lunch/dinner.
Apparently she may be just being fussy about spoon fed food.
And her mummy had better buck up in her cooking skill. >.<
Was super tired today......................
Heat Wave
Posted in Baby on
These few days have been raining, up till yesterday, where the sky was just cloudy with occasional peaks of sunlight.
So we brought En + Qi to the swimming pool, and had fun with the 2 floats.
There's no sun, but the water's pretty cold and the air warm and humid.
Didn't take any pics 'cos hubby and i had our hands full with them!
We only stayed in the water (and sometimes out, just sitting by the steps splashing water) for about 20minutes.
Then at 11.30pm, when I tried to carry En from his sarong to the mattress (part of sleep training), I felt a hotness in my arms instead.
En's having a fever!
And so was Qi, though she don't feel as warm as En.
I'm a little panicky 'cos it's really late, and hubby's out for his mahjong session. So i'm like home alone to deal with 2 feverish babes.
One by one, I brought them to the high chair and fed baby panadol.
It's quite a mad dash after that, having to sponge cold water on one, make milk for the other, trying to stop them from walking into different rooms...
... was so glad hubby ended his MJ session shortly and was back home to help.
The fever didn't go away, and was on & off around 38+ degree celcius, even after doses of panadol. I think I fed them too little 'cos the dosage is for infants less than 1 year old, yet i'm not sure if i should increase it since they are now 15 months.
At 3pm+, we drove to the nearby clinic and En was already 39.2 C.
I'm so annoyed that our thermometer didn't even manage to pick this up!!
By this time, En's already quite lethargic and was just lying in the stroller drowsily.
Qi was still about 38C but still alert and perky.
The babes were given a stronger fever med by the Doctor.
We fed them rightaway outside the clinic, then rushed home to sponge En with cool water again.
Thankfully by dinnertime, all hotness have disappeared and their little foreheads feel normal again. Hubby and I felt sooo relieved to see them toddling around the house and 'making noise' again, signifying their recovery!
We hope that they stay this way 'til tomorrow... and recover soon. What an experience for us...

Butter garlic prawns
Posted in RecipeBook onGot so inspired by a photo in the papers and quickly went online to search for a recipe... Yup, we're having butter garlic prawns for dinner tonight!
It's a 3-Step Recipe! Tasty and easy!
2. In a hot saucepan, mix the ingredients and stir 'til butter melts completely and garlic turns fragrant.
bake 'til prawns are cooked.(Ya.. I know I'm just using pathetic looking itsy-mini prawns but I'll strongly recommend TIGER PRAWNS so it looks better and tastes more SHIOK!)

Baby Porridge 加料 Part I: Frogleg + Tomato Scrambled Egg
Posted in Baby/Toddler Recipes on
Had some extra froglegs in the fridge, and instead of steaming it for the babies' porridge, I came up with this easy-to-do dish...

Beat egg, add some marmite to taste.
Mix everything well in a bowl.

More eye candy....
Posted in Wishlist onSome delicious, nostalgic and droooling stuff to welcome the new year!
Hello Kitty Re-ment vintage stationery #2This calculator really bring back my childhood memories of going 'shopping' at OG during my primary school days. I spotted this at the kid's department and love fondling with the nice embossed number buttons. Till now i still wonder why didn't it occur to me to ask the folks to buy it? I think I had the impression of it being 'expensive' and being the good girl I am, was just happy to play with it during those OG visits.
Q-POT 2010 SPRING COLLECTION CatalogIt's out!! And this time besides a tote, it also comes with a biscotti pouch!
Simply yumz~
Love the simplicity and elegance of it.
... and finally....

Quoted from here:The Q-Pot phone from Japan’s NTT Docomo looks like a melting bar of chocolate. You can even get straps that look like complimentary dessert sweets too. The phone has a 3.0 inch screen and takes 4mp pictures- sweet! Available in “melty bitter” and “melty strawberry”.

En & Qi - 15 months

The babes are starting to walk already! It's now quite fun to lift them out of the stroller and let them
toddle around. This is taken at small indoor playground @ Changi T3.

When Qi wakes up before En, she will toddle into his room and start to 摇, 摇, 摇 his sarong. Sisterly love...
... and finally,
... today is the end of BORING FISH PORRIDGES.I hereby declare that the babes, from now on, shall EAT WHAT WE EAT.
Actually it's a little bit more headache for me, 'cos i'd always have to consider whether the meal is suitable for BB + Adults.
But it means a wider variety for them!
I realllllly HATE cooking boring cod fish porridge everyday!!
Their dinner today - mashed version of my chicken/potato stew!

Momnesia
Posted in MeMeMe on
If you are a mom, have you experienced it too?
Do women, after having baby, really experience 'memory loss' - MOMNESIA?
I had a massive momnesia attack the other day.
(sounds familiar to you?)
Even MIL tells me: you are forgetting everything nowadays!
(... before she added 'just kidding! No, I knew she meant it.)
Yes, I do feel my brain is over-crammed and overworked.
There's simply TOO MANY THINGS TO REMEMBER.
I can't help it... I have to keep my toes on what's happening to (not one but) TWO other little people's entire wellbeing, from head to toe, inside out + research knowledge about them from the net, not counting my own needs and a zillion other mundane things like laundry, housechores and what to cook for every meal (sianz!).
There's always a list to do up, a problem to research on, newly listed toys on ebay to look at, stuff to be washed, something to think about, consider, decide... almost at any moment of the day.
And I can do it while doing something else, like, thinking about what needs to be stocked up in the fridge while pouring away the babies' bath water.
Yes, potential employers, sit up! MUMMY-EMPLOYEES CAN MULTI-TASK BETTER!

- I forgot that my mom's coming over to prepare dinner.
- I forgot to go swimming on a good weather like today as i promised myself, and napped instead.
- I forgot (almost) to fax a document hubby asked me to...

Keepin' 'Em Busy
Posted in Baby, Shopping onPaid for and collected this musical activity table from Telok Kurau today.
It's smaller than I expected, and initially I thought $50 for this thingy is too extravagant ~ until I saw how the twins got so busy with it...

Hubby felt that it's a bit too 'messy', with short bursts of songs and a lady talking whenever a button is pressed or a flap is opened. The tunes even came in 2 languages - English and French! How cool is that?

Lunch@Dempsey Hill
Posted in Friends, Outing on
I was super excited when I hear that today is a public holiday, so quickly 'booked' MIL to babysit for me (with hubby's help, of course) so I could go on a lunch date there with galfrens!
Where we ate: The Ranch Home / Ben&Jerry's
I've been dying to eat @ Dempsey Hill after so many people went and talked about it... I only knew it's an ang-mo-ish eating 'village' opposite Botanic Gardens, but never had enough courage to bring baby there simply becos:
1. it's not accessible by anything other than 4-wheel drive
2. it's a long way to walk up the hill which i don't know how to manage with a stroller.
THANK YOU, GIRLS ~
for making my 'little lunch wish' come true!

安床
Posted in Occasion onA neighbour's daughter is getting married this Saturday, and according to tradition, the couple has to sit a young boy on their marital bed for blessings to have many children (hopefully boys) in the near future.
En has the great honour to be the '安床童子' !
En has the great honour to be the '安床童子' !

The marital bed beautifully decorated by auspicious red food and lanterns.En probably feels a little intimidated by the strange surrounding + 4 people (the couple, the mum and me), all crowding at the rear end of the bed trying to get him to smile at our cameras.
Though the whole 'event' took only 15min, it was fun!
He even got an angpao for his 'service'!

No more milk for En?
Posted in Baby on
En has OFFICIALLY (or is it temporary?) rejected milk, since last Friday night.
Thursday night, Papa tried feeding him, he screamed and papa turned to me. After singing songs and sweet-talking from me, he finally finished the bottle.
Come Friday morning, drank 150ml out of his usual 210ml.
Friday afternoon, totally rejected milk. And for the entire weekend!
We thought he'd be willing to drink when his Grandma feeds him (cos she's the one who fed him from Mon-Fri) but apparently she's being rejected too!
I guess it's time to switch to more yogurt, ikan bilis and cheese now...
*haiz.. headache
Hope this is just a passing phase for En!
